Another poker book
I still can’t get over how cheap hard drives are getting - I think I’m gonna stop burning data to DVDRs and just keep buying drives! ;)
So I’m reading another poker book - this time: Small Stakes Hold ‘em: Winning Big with Expert Play - it’s pretty much the definitive book for learning to play low limits. It’s not a beginner book however, so it dives right in at a fairly high level.. I’m about halfway through the book and it’s changing the way I’m thinking about the game - I’m picking up lots of new tactics. Right now I can fairly reliably make money playing $0.5/$1 limit hold’em online, but slowly… This book should help me up my win rate - it’s nice to have a hobby that makes a little money :)
Oh and it’s gotten far too cold and wet and gross outside to even think about jogging, lately. I’m in half a mind to buy an exercise bike and be done with it ;)
One more thing: GTA San Andreas is an awesome, awesome game :D

It’s never too cold and wet to go running, you just need the right gear :-)

I have to disagree with Euan - it’s too cold and wet to go running surprisingly often, around here, let me tell you ;)
I saw the /. poker article - funny to watch this thing spreading. If I can stay ahead of the thousands of others just starting the poker learning curve since it got televised and popular, maybe I can earn some more gadget money! ;)
The main attraction to me is that it’s fun, social, mentally taxing, you can just keep improving your game (there’s really no ceiling) and (if played skillfully) it’s financially rewarding - that’s a good recipe for a hobby.

Since it is too cold and wet to run, you could make your character in GTA:SA run everywhere he goes. It is like vicarious exercise. I also find that running in games never triggers asthma attacks, so I have decided that this must truly be a healthier alternative. :-D

Agreed! I even took my GTA:SA guy to a gym! :D

Heh, well I ran every day I was down the Falklands which has far more inclement weather than the UK.
But then I was a squaddie which presupposes a certain level of instability ;-)
